VAVEL NFL Editor Sam Lewis sends out his mock draft as the big weekend approaches.

1) Houston Texans – Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

Clowney is tempting, but the need to grab a QB means the safest passer first up makes more sense.

2) St Louis Rams – Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A & M

The Rams are still committed to Bradford, so provided they can’t trade down taking Matthews is probably the safest pick in the draft.

3) Jacksonville Jaguars – Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

Gus Bradley’s growing defense gets the centrepiece.

4) Cleveland Browns – Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida

Bridgewater is the safest QB, but Bortles has perhaps the highest ceiling. Cleveland crazy not to take a passer here.

5) Oakland Raiders – Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

Thanks to Matt Schaub the Raiders can justify looking into rounds two and three for a passer to develop behind him. Watkins a can’t-miss weapon.

6) Atlanta Falcons - Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo

Probably the best overall defender in the draft, Atlanta get the pass-rushing weapon they need.

7) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn

With Mack off the board and no trade-up, Tampa Bay shore up their offensive line and commit some protection to Josh McCown.

8) Minnesota Vikings – Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A & M

The Vikings have been burned on QB selections before, but the opportunity to create a Peterson-Manziel-Patterson trio with the read option on offense would be an exciting prospect.

9) Buffalo Bills – Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA

The Bills add linebacking talent to add to their young defense.

10) Detroit Lions – Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

With Golden Tate eliminating a first round WR need, they can take the best safety in the draft.

11) Tennessee Titans – Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma St

Regarded as the best corner in the draft. The Titans have secondary issues.

12) New York Giants – Marqise Lee, WR, USC

Losing Hakeem Nicks was a big blow. Lee another playmaker for Eli Manning.

13) St Louis Rams – Mike Evans, WR, Texas A & M

Having Matthews protecting him and Evans and second year Tavon Austin to throw to – St Louis make sure there are no excuses for Sam Bradford.

14) Chicago Bears – Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh

After adding Jared Allen, Chicago completes the defensive makeover by grabbing the best interior pass-rusher in the draft.

15) Pittsburgh Steelers – Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan St

Maybe the best man cover corner in the draft. Pittsburgh fill their need.

16) Dallas Cowboys – Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT, Notre Dame

The Cowboys need an interior defensive presence as well as coping with the loss of DeMarcus Ware. Tuitt could be either, could thrive under Rod Marinelli.

17) Baltimore Ravens – Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville

The Ravens need another safety to fit alongside Matt Elam. Pryor is hard-hitter.

18) New York Jets – Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

The Jets have now signed Eric Decker to give Michael Vick, Ebron would give opposition defences an additional match-up problem.

19) Miami Dolphins – Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame

Miami need help protecting Ryan Tannehill. Martin a dependable choice here.

20) Arizona Cardinals – CJ Mosely, LB, Alabama

Mosely is by far the best interior linebacker in the draft, and could be moulded into a starter in any linebacking spot. Would add depth and great instinct to an already impressive Cards defense.

21) Green Bay Packers – Ra’Shede Hageman, DT.

Has high ceiling as a pass-rushing defensive lineman, could give the Pack additional pass-rush alongside the recently re-signed B.J Raji, costless agent Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews.

22) Philadelphia Eagles – Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida St

The loss of DeSean Jackson makes WR the #1 need. Kelvin Benjamin a good possession receiver that adds a weapon alongside new Eagle Darren Sproles.

23) Kansas City Chiefs – Odell Beckham Jr, WR, LSU

Kansas need another weapon to make their offense a little less “vanilla.” Beckham Jr certainly provides that.

24) Cincinnati Bengals – Bradley Roby, CB, Ohio St

CB is one of the bigger needs on the Bengal’s roster and Roby is an athletic corner who will be a solid NFL starter.

25) San Diego Chargers – Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame

A classic big guy up-front, Louis Nix is a younger Vince Wilfork. The Chargers see to it that he doesn’t end up succeeding him in New England.

26) Cleveland Browns – Davante Evans, WR, Fresno St

Described as a “poor-man’s Michael Crabtree” but will be a needed weapon for new Browns QB Blake Bortles.

27) New Orleans Saints – Kony Ealy, DE, Missouri

Could automatically plug in as a third down rusher for an improving New Orleans defense. Add better instincts against the run and the athletic Ealy could be an eight sack a year guy, minimum.

28) Carolina Panthers – Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon

The Panthers need a WR so badly it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them try a trade scenario to get a higher ranked guy. However in this draft, they take the best pass-catcher available.

29) New England Patriots - Will Sutton, DT, Arizona

Originally pegged as a first round talent in 2012 but weight issues hurt his production, Sutton could make a lot of sense working on his physique with Bill Belichick’s coaching.

30) San Francisco 49ers – DeMarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State.

An athletic pass-rusher that could fill the gap left behind by the potentially cut Aldon Smith.

31) Denver Broncos – Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

No 1st round linebacking talent still available so the Broncos go back to the most important priority: protecting Peyton Manning.

32) Seattle Seahawks – Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi St

A versatile offensive lineman that could be added for depth and moulded to fit anywhere on the line.
