Danny Woodhead has agreed to a two year extension with the San Diego Chargers, while financial terms of the deal were not announced. Last season Woodhead agreed to a two year, $3.5 million contract with San Diego, he also received a $1 million signing bonus. Woodhead opted out of that deal and wanted to test the costless agency market but ended up agreeing to a extension with the Chargers.

Woodhead began attending Chadron State College, a Division II college football program in 2004. Woodhead was successful on the college level as he became the team's primary offensive option. He played a full four seasons of college football, he is college football's all time leading rusher with 7,962 yards on 1,135 attempts on top of 101 rushing touchdowns. 

Woodhead went went undrafted in 2008, but he received a call from the Jets as soon as the draft ended about agreeing on a undrafted rookie deal with New York. Woodhead sat out his rookie year due to injury, but he played in 10 games in his 2nd season but was cut as soon as the season ended.

Woodhead was signed by the Patriots during the 2010 campaign in the middle of the season, he played only three seasons with the Patriots before being released in 2013. Woodhead was picked up by San Diego last season and had a career year including a starting job at running back.  He has played in 71 career games, ran for 1,692 yards including 12 touchdowns and 88 first down pickups.
