Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard is done for the season again after tearing his left Achilles on the second day of training camp. Ballard was expected to compete for the starting running back job against running backs Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw.

Just under year ago, Ballard tore his ACL after having a solid rookie season in 2012. Once Ballard went down, the Colts went out and traded for Richardson in order to help.

Ballard led the Colts in rushing during the 2012 season with 814 yards. He rushed for one touchdown while also catching 17 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown. In 2013, Ballard had 63 yards against the Oakland Raiders in the season opener before tearing his ACL.

There were high hopes for the Colts running game with a three-headed attack from all three backs, but now that attack will rest on the shoulders of Bradshaw and Richardson.

Bradshaw has injury concerns himself. He had neck surgery in 2013, which caused him to miss 13 games. As with any neck surgery and a hard-hitting sport like football, one can never be too sure if he will remain healthy for an entire season.

Look for the Colts to pick up another running if needed and they may even consider Ballard's future with the team. The Colts also have young players at the running back position in Dan Herron, Chris Rainey, Zurlon Tipton, and Cam White.
