The Arizona Cardinals have absorbed another blow to their once-formidable front seven.

Defensive end Darnell Dockett was carted off from practice on Monday and will miss the season with a torn right ACL, the team announced. He will undergo surgery to repair his knee.

Dockett did not tear his MCL, which will make his rehab a bit easier and allow him to undergo surgery sooner, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per a source close to the player.

Dockett suffered the injury on a passing play during eleven-on-eleven drills during practice. He was then carted off the field at University of Phoenix Stadium after being attended to by head trainer Tom Reed. Dockett was helped to the cart by Reed and center Lyle Sendlein, who has been out with a calf injury.

"It's always a scary moment bringing the cart out," Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell said.

Dockett has been a poster child for durability. He's missed just two games in his 10-year career -- both for injuries. He played in his first 104 games before a shoulder injury sidelined him in Week 9 of the 2010 season. He missed Week 4 in 2012 because of a hamstring injury.

The Cardinals have already lost standout linebacker Karlos Dansby to costless agency and Daryl Washington to suspension.

They'll now have to attempt to replicate last year's No. 1 run defense without Dockett, too.
