In the 23-17 victory of the Washington Redskins, the Baltimore Ravens have to leave the game thinking they have a lot of young talent ready to break out in the 2014 season. At this time last year, a lot was made of the Ravens decision to let a lot of veteran players walk in costless agency as the team was looking towards getting younger for the future. With that decision, it looks like the youth movement is paying off for the Ravens.

Six takeaways from the Ravens third preseason game:

1.) Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco looks really comfortable in his brand new offense created by offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak. Even with pressure in his face during the first half, Flacco managed to throw for 180 yards completing 16 out his 23 passes with one touchdown and zero interceptions.

2.) Rookie costless safety Terrence Brooks might be the fastest player on the Ravens defense. Brooks ability to close on the ball carrier is exceptional. In the first quarter, Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffin III scrambled out of the pocket trying to run for a first down however, Brooks chased the veteran quarterback down for a sack.

3.) Second year nose tackle Brandon Williams is a monster at the line of scrimmage. Williams has arguably been the Ravens best defensive player in the first-three preseason games so far. Williams has shown the ability to collapse the pocket and demand double teams costlessing up veterans like Haloti Ngata and Terrell Suggs to attack the backfield.

4.) Wide receiver Steve Smith is going to be a game changer for the Ravens. The highlight of the night occured in the first quarter when Smith avoided a wrap around tackle for Redskins' cornerback DeAngelo Hall and dogded five defenders running up the sideline for 30 yards. Smith finished the night with six catches for 80 yards and one touchdown. The Flacco-Smith connection looks promising.

5.) Inside linebacker C.J. Mosley showed off his coverage skills with an interception over Griffin III early in the third quarter after a tipped pass by inside linebacker Daryl Smith. Mosely has shown the ability to stay in coverage with tight ends and running backs in the first-three preseason games and that is something that will go a long way to launching the Ravens back into the fold as a top five defensive unit.

6.) With veteran cornerbacks such as Jimmy Smith, Lardarius Webb and Asa Jackson, the Ravens have to like what they saw out of their backup corners on the night holding the Redskins first team unit to 20 yards passing in the first half. Going into the third preseason game, a lot of criticism was thrown into the direction of  cornerback Chykie Brown and Dominique Franks for their production in the secondary throughout training camp and in the preseason. Shutting down a quality group of Redskins receivers consisting of Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson probably has boosted the confidence of the Ravens coaching staff and Ravens fans going forward.
