In his first appearance since 2010, quarterback Drew Stanton led the Arizona Cardinals (2-0) to a 25-14 win over the New York Giants. The Cardinals found a way to win, even without their starting quarterback Carson Palmer.

"It goes to show the leadership we have in this locker room," cornerback Patrick Peterson said. "We faced a lot of adversity. We let these games slip away last year, getting into the fourth quarter down. We didn't know how to dig out of the hole. Now we understand how to win ball games. How to finish out the fourth quarter. That's what it's all about. It was a great team win out there today."

The Cardinals offense got help from everyone. Stanton went 14 for 29, adding up to 167 yards, but he did not throw for either a touchdown or an interception. Andre Ellington rushed for 15 times and 91 yards. The Cardinals did score using their feet. Backup running back Jonathan Dwyer scored on a one-yard rush. Larry Fitzgerald added six receptions for 51 yards. Out of all the offensive players the Cardinals have, their kicker, Chandler Catanzaro, got the job done. He kicked field goals from 49, 37, 32, 33 yards and a PAT to collect 13 total points for the Cardinals.

"You have to start betting on yourself," said Stanton, who was 14 of 19 and did not turn over the ball. "You have to worry about the stuff you have control over. I say that constantly, but until you start believing in that, you're not going to be any good."

New York has its second straight loss and are now 0-2. The Giants started 0-6 last season before finally getting a win. This has many wondering if the team is doomed once again this year.

"Criticism of this team now is rightfully administered," Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka said. "We understand what 0-2 means in this league, and we understand we are the team that accomplished the ultimate after going 0-2 (in 2007). We have to stay with that mindset.

The Giants offense was led by Eli Manning. Manning threw for 277 yards on 26 for 39 passing. He threw two touchdowns, however, his mistakes came on his two interceptions. Rashad Jennings rushed for 64 yards on 18 carries. Victor Cruz was targeted more than in week one. This week Cruz had five receptions for 60 yards after having only two catches for 24 yards in week one.

The Giants can only hope for a better outcome next week when they face Houston (2-0) at home again. Arizona (2-0) has their first division game against San Francisco in the desert next week.
