Running back Darren Sproles caught seven passes for a career-high 152 yards including a clutch 51-yard reception late in the fourth quarter to set up the game-tying touchdown to help the Philadelphia Eagles come-from-behind to beat the Indianapolis Colts 30-27 on Monday Night Football. Quarterback Nick Foles completed 21-of-37 passes for 331 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the win as well.

The result is very much a surprise for those who watched the game as the Indianapolis Colts looked like the better team for the first two and a half quarters. In fact, the Colts actually held a 14-point lead with 6:43 left in the third quarter. At the time, they were converting all of their scoring chances while the Eagles just could not seem to get in the end zone.

It was all Philadelphia in the end though, scoring 24 of the last 31 points in the game to come away with the win. The main pieces of those scoring drives being Foles (6-of-11 for 127 yards and a touchdown), LeSean McCoy (9 carries for 38 yards and a touchdown) and Sproles (3 touches for 87 yards and a touchdown).

The turning point of the game came with 5:15 left in the fourth quarter and the Colts nursing a 27-20 lead. Indianapolis was moving the ball down the field eating up yards and clock on their way to their first victory of the season. They came up on a 3rd-and-9 from the Eagles 22-yard-line. The best option in this situation with a touchdown lead and five minutes to go would have been to run the ball in the middle of the field to kill another 40-50 seconds off the clock before kicking a sub-40 yard field goal.

Instead, the Colts were greedy and looked to pass on third down. A big mistake as Malcolm Jenkins intercepted the ball setting up the Eagles tying touchdown on the next drive. Indianapolis lost all momentum and the game because of this poor play call.

Ironically the final nail in the coffin was placed by rookie kicker Cody Parkey. The irony comes from a trade on August 20th of this year in which the Colts sent Parkey to the Eagles for David Fluellen. Fluellen is a costless agent while Parkey sent the Colts to 0-2.

Indianapolis travels to Jacksonville next week while the Eagles will host the Washington Redskins.
