On a Monday night where Alshon Jeffery has his way (which is usually the case), the Chicago Bears outlasted the New York Jets 27-19. Jay Cutler led the Bears throwing two touchdowns and 225 yards, and Alshon Jeffery had his way with the Jets secondary for eight catches and 105 yards. Martellus Bennett caught both touchdowns in the win.

Geno Smith had a decent night throwing for 316 yards but was picked off in the first quarter by Ryan Mundy for a pick-six to put the Bears up early. The Bears had a 17-3 lead in the second quarter when Geno Smith threw a touchdown pass to Jeremy Kerley for 19 yards. The closest the Jets got within reach of leading was in the fourth quarter when Nick Folk hit a 42-yard field goal to make it 24-19 in favor of the Bears. Robbie Gould tacked on another field goal which secured the win for Chicago.

The Jets were on one last drive but were stopped short when Jeremy Kerley was ruled out of bounds on a 4th down play. Statistically the Jets controlled this game leading in first downs (21-17), total yards (414-257), and total plays (72-61). But, when the Jets needed the touchdowns they could only convert field goals and the Bears defense held up.

"At this point, guys know you're one play away. We got to keep sending a message week in, week out that defensively we come to play," said Bears defensive player Lance Briggs.
