The Kansas City Chiefs were looking to gain ground on the Denver Broncos on Thursday. They were expected to beat the winless Oakland Raiders. Charles Woodson and Derek Carr proved that they could get their first win. Technically speaking, the Raiders aren't mathematically out of the playoffs either. Despite that, the Raiders were just happy for their for at win in 18 games. Rookie Derek Carr played like the quarterback the Raiders hoped he be. Finally, safety Charles Woodson made NFL history. The Chiefs however needed that win. They needed to have a chance to get out of second place in the division.

Latavius Murray came in as the backup running back to Darren McFadden. Murray got a chance tonight to prove he should be a starter. He provided an offensive spark until his injury in the second quarter. Murray ran for 112 yards and on four carries. He left yeah game in the second quarter but didn't return. Those two runs one of 11 yards and the other 90 yards set the Raiders up nicely. It was the first two drives of the game and both for touchdowns. That put the Raiders up 14-0 on the Chiefs in the second quarter. The Chiefs got a field goal and were trailing 14-3 by the half.

Sebastian Janikowski would kick a 40 yard field goal giving the Raiders a 17-3 lead with about ten minutes to go. Alex Smith and the Chiefs answered with a touchdown pass to tight end Anthony Fasano. The Raiders led 17/10 at that point. With 13 minutes left in the game Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles scored a rushing touchdown. Tying the game at 17 a piece. The Chiefs would answer with a field goal giving them a three point lead. Finally, Derek Carr and the Raiders answer with a touchdown pass to James Jones giving them their first win. All with a 1:30 left. Charles Woodson made NFL history. According to ESPN, "Charles Woodson becomes the first player in NFL history with 50 interceptions and 20 sacks."
