The Miami Dolphins have signed cornerback R.J. Stanford. To make room for Stanford, Miami released corner Jalil Brown. Miami's secondary has been decimated by injuries during this season and has left the Dolphins with the hard task of replacing replacement players.

Cortland Finnegan, Jamar Taylor, Will Davis and Michael Thomas are recovering from injuries with Davis and Thomas were placed on IR ending their season. The Dolphins are not expecting Finnegan and Taylor to make a quick return forcing Miami's hand to have to make a move.

Stanford is a one time Dolphin who was himself placed on injured reserve by Miami in 2013 after he suffered a broken leg, which makes him familiar with defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle's defense. Stanford is 25 years old and is in his fourth year in the NFL out of the University of Utah. He is 5'10” and has good speed and athleticism. This moves still leaves Miami short handed in the position as they get prepared to face the New York Jets led by Michael Vick on Monday Night Football.
