The Chargers are reporting that they have made the decision to place center Rich Ohrnberger on season-ending Injured Reserve. Ohrnberger has played most of the season with a nagging back injury, in part because of the Chargers being forced to place centers Nick Hardwick and Doug Legursky on IR as well. This move brings Ohrnberger's season to an end and places the duties at center on rookie Chris Watt.

Watt played in place of the injured Ohrnberger on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams and by all reports, Watt played well during the game. Chris Watt was selected in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft with the idea that he might be a permanent replacement for center Nick Hardwick at the position and will now have the rest of the season to prove that he is worthy of the starting job.

Also with the empty roster spot left by the deactivation of Ohrnberger, Outside Linebacker Cordarro Law was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. The rest of the season will be a test for the young rookie, and when the offseason rolls around it will be interesting to see what happens with the four centers that have played this season and who gets the starting position for the Chargers in 2015.
