The owner of the Atlanta Falcons Arthur Blank has finally decided to fire head coach Mike Smith. During his tenure here he accumulated a 66-46 record. Nevertheless, his impact on the falcons organization was immeasurable. Here are this writer's top three candidates for the vacant head coaching job:

1. Dan Quinn- Current Seattle Seahawks Defensive Coordinator

There is a phrased that is often used that starts with defense. "Defense wins championships." The Seahawks dominated the Broncos to win the Super Bowl last year. Fans will often say that the Falcons are devoid of talent. That statement is true to a certain extent. The Falcons have players who could become impact players in the right situation. The Seahawks have capitalized on playing the players to their strengths.

2. Rex Ryan- Former New York Jets Head Coach

Rex Ryan is regarded around the league as a defensive minded coach. The falcons haven't had a defensive minded coach in a long time. Rex Ryan is excellent at developing young talent (ex. Muhammad Wilkerson). Falcons currently have a great bit of young guys that need guidance. You shouldn't let Rex's 46-50 record fool you because he can really coach once he has the right pieces.

3. Todd Bowles- Current Arizona Cardinals Defensive Coordinator

When it is draft time Todd Bowles just works with what he is given. He even changed Tyrann Matheiu's position which worked wonders. The Atlanta Falcons need a Head Coach that will maximize each of his players capabilities. Todd Bowles made the Cardinals a top team in the NFC this year.

Who do you guys think the next coach of the Atlanta Falcons will be? Be sure to leave a comment.
