1) Tampa Bay - Jameis Winston, QB/Florida State

Tampa Bay has already talked with Jameis Winston extensively and it seems a sure bet that he'll go number one overall to Tampa. He showed his true potential at the combine, making every NFL throw that you can make, and he made it look easy. Winston will be the franchise QB the Bucs need and they can begin to build around him.

2) Tennessee - Leonard Williams, DT/USC

Tennessee has the luxury at pick number two to sit back and weigh their options. They could go after Marcus Mariota here, but yours truly thinks that Zach Mettenberger showed too much potential last year for the Titans to give up on him just yet. This means that they have to go to the good ol' fashioned, best player available way. This leads them to select Leonard Williams. Williams was a beast at USC and kept that train rolling at the combine, where he cemented his status as the best defensive player in the draft.

3) Jacksonville - Dante Fowler, DE(OLB)/Florida

Another player that stood out at the combine is Dante Fowler. Fowler is ferocious off the edge and can be a Dwight Freeney-esque pass rusher. That's something that the Jaguars have been coveting for years, unable to find the right fit for their system. With former Seahawks DC Gus Bradley at the helm, Dante Fowler is the kind of player that Bradley wants and needs on his defensive front for the next 10-15 years.

4) Oakland - Kevin White, WR/West Virginia

Derek Carr was really impressive last season, and it's even more incredible that he looked that good with guys like Andre Holmes and James Jones as his top two WR's. Imagine how good he could become if he had a legitimate number one WR on his side. This is where Kevin White comes in. He was a top WR before the combine, then he decided to run a 4.35 40-yard dash. That just put the final nail in the coffin for Kevin White being the best WR in this draft.

5) Washington, Randy Gregory, DE(OLB)/Nebraska

Washington has several needs on defense, but finding a replacement for Brian Orakpo, who's been hurt far too often and won't be re-sign, must be high on their list. Randy Gregory would be the perfect compliment to Ryan Kerrigan, and would be a terrific replacement for Orakpo.

6) New York Jets - Marcus Mariota, QB/Oregon

The Jets have failed the Geno project over the last couple seasons and they need to get a new QB to take the helm of that offense. Mariota, like Winston, impressed at the combine, but Jameis is a better QB, whereas Mariota is the better athlete. Mariota can make some pretty impressive throws and his mobility is some of the best you'll see at the QB position, so there is a lot to love if you're a  Jets fan.

7) Chicago - Danny Shelton, DT/Washington

Chicago had a horrible time stopping the run last season and it’s not going to get any better unless the address the immediate issue. That issue is that they don’t have a run clogging big man in the middle of that defensive front. Danny Shelton is enormous, he stands 6’2, 339 pounds and reminds me a little of Vince Wilfork. Chicago could steadily improve if they draft Shelton and then build around him with later picks and in later years.

8) Atlanta – Shane Ray, DE(OLB)/Missouri

It’s no secret that Atlanta has lacked a pass rush for several years now, ever since saying goodbye to John Abraham. They tried things with Osi Umenyiora, and it wasn’t a bad idea, he just didn’t provide enough of a punch to help that defense out. Shane Ray could do what Osi couldn’t, due to his impressive athleticism and skill rushing off the edge. Ray and Umenyiora would be quite a pass rushing pair.

9) New York Giants – Vic Beasley, DE(OLB)/Clemson

Vic Beasley looked like an animal at the combine. He benched 35 reps (the highest total at his position) and ran a 4.53 40 yard dash (also the highest at his position). That equates to everything you want in a pass rusher, strength and speed. This is something the Giants need, especially after a down year from JPP, as well as the fact that they’re losing Mathias Kiwanuka. Adding some punch on that D-Line would prove to be very valuable in the near future.

10) St. Louis – Brandon Scherff, OT(OG)/Iowa

St. Louis will be looking at O-Line yet again after more injury concerns with Jake Long. Long has actually contemplated retirement due to his lingering injury issues. That would be a major hit to the Rams offensive line, and it would need to be fixed immediately. Luckily, they have Brandon Scherff still on the board who, like Greg Robinson, can play guard or tackle. So, wherever they feel Scherff fits, that’s where he will be, come day one.

11) Minnesota – Amari Cooper, WR/Alabama

Teddy Bridgewater was brilliant last season and that was with Charles Johnson being his leading receiver. Charles Johnson was waived twice before the Vikings picked him up. Yeah, that’s the kind of depth the Vikings don’t have at the wide receiver position. Enter Amari Cooper who looked as smooth as anyone at the combine, especially in that gauntlet drill. He catches just about everything in sight and there are many comparisons between him and former Alabama WR Julio Jones. Just the kind of vertical threat Norv Turner would love to incorporate into his offense.

12) Cleveland – DeVante Parker, WR/Louisville

Cleveland is going to need as much help as possible out wide for whoever their QB will be next year. Josh Gordon is more than likely to be out of Cleveland after his most recent season long suspension. He’s not going to get another chance with the Browns brass after being allowed to play last season, and then screwing it all up again this offseason. DeVante Parker is a very talented WR who brings solid size to the position (6’3, 215) and has really nice hands. He, like Cooper, can catch just about any ball that’s thrown to him, and that’s very important considering how errant some of Manziel’s throws were last season.

13) New Orleans – Trae Waynes, CB/Michigan State

New Orleans pass defense was pathetic last year, to say the least, and if they want to compete with the likes of Ryan, Newton and Winston in the NFC South, they’ll need to get better in the secondary. The man for that job is Trae Waynes, who really stood out this past college football season and at the combine. Some people think that Waynes isn’t the best corner in the draft, and this writer doesn’t know why they feel that way because he brings everything you want as top tier NFL corner. He’ll make a name for himself in the very near future in New Orleans.

14) Miami – Shaq Thompson, OLB(S)/Washington

Shaq Thompson is one of the more intriguing prospects simply because of his immense versatility. If your team needs a safety, he can play safety. If your team needs a linebacker, he can play linebacker. Coincidentally, Miami needs both of those positions, they just have to determine where Shaq fits best in their scheme. Either way, Thompson will provide more than enough for Miami’s defense.

15) San Francisco – Jaelen Strong, WR/Arizona State

San Francisco looked mediocre last year, something we haven’t seen from them in the last 3-4 years. That was mainly due to Colin Kaepernick’s inconsistent play at the QB position, but you can’t blame everything on Kaep. If he had some reliable options, other than Anquan Boldin, in the passing game, he could make some strides. That’s why the Niners will need to target a wide receiver in the first round. The best WR available is Jaelen Strong, who looked very good in Indy at the combine, and San Fran would be wise to pick this kid up and make him your immediate number one for the future.

16) Houston – Landon Collins, S/Alabama

DJ Swearinger has been somewhat of a bust pick for Houston, and they just need to get more physical in the secondary altogether. Landon Collins is a rare breed of safety who can play like a ball-hawk corner and a hard hitting safety in one. That is very valuable in today’s NFL, so Collins should fit right in at Safety in Houston.

17) San Diego – La’El Collins, OT/LSU

Philip Rivers needs to be kept upright if he, and the Chargers, stand any chance of dethroning the Broncos in the AFC West. The Chargers did re-sign King Dunlap, but they still have lingering issues at LT with DJ Fluker and at both guard spots. It wouldn’t be implausible if the Chargers moved either Fluker or Collins to Guard.

18) Kansas City – Dorial Green-Beckham, WR/Oklahoma

Kansas City WR’s didn’t score a single TD last season, not even kidding here, not one TD. That needs to be fixed if they want to win consistently. Alex Smith could be a really solid QB if he had WR’s worth throwing to. DGB does have some off the field concerns, but provides Megatron type comparisons on the field.  If there’s any coach who can fix DGB off the field, it’s Andy Reid.

19) Cleveland (via Buffalo) – Bud Dupree, DE(OLB)/Kentucky

Even after signing Paul Kruger and Karlos Dansby, the Browns don’t have too threatening of a pass rush. If they want to compete in the AFC North, they have to get stronger defensively. Bud Dupree is a tremendous athlete and could provide that desperately needed pass rush for Cleveland.

20) Philadelphia – Arik Armstead, DT(DE)/Oregon

Philly had problems all over the secondary last season, leading to many bad losses. But seeing how Chip Kelly is working, avoiding that necessary position seems likely. Armstead is a big man, who would be a massive upgrade over Bennie Logan on the interior of that D-Line. He’s a pass rushing, run stuffing stud, oh, and he was an Oregon Duck as well.

21) Cincinnati – Marcus Peters, CB/Washington

Cincy has issues with the secondary, like Philly, but they’ll actually address that issue here. Leon Hall is getting older and Dre Kirkpatrick is a #2 corner at best, so they need to find someone to take over as their number one corner, and who better than Marcus Peters. Peters is an athletic, lean corner who is great in man coverage. He’d be the kind of guy you’d want matched up against Antonio Brown twice a year.

22) Pittsburgh – Jalen Collins, CB/LSU

Another corner taken here, and boy do the Steelers need it. Ike Taylor is getting older and yours truly can’t even name their other corners, that’s how bad that situation is for Pittsburgh. Jalen Collins is another one of those corners that you can pencil in day one as a starter and feel 100% comfortable with it. He’d be a perfect fit with Pittsburgh.

23) Detroit – Malcom Brown, DT/Texas

Detroit is likely losing both Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley, so their immediate need will be interior D-Line. Malcom Brown has a kind of Henry Melton feel to him, although he’s plenty bigger than Melton, he still possesses the same kind of skill set. He’ll be a run stuffer, but he’s also a sneaky good pass rusher. Not as athletic as Leonard Williams, but he’s got enough to survive as Suh’s replacement in Detroit.

24) Arizona – Paul Dawson, LB/TCU

Arizona is really lacking at the linebacker position, especially considering all the suspensions that Darryl Washington has had over the past few seasons. He may be done with Arizona, so they’ll look to replace him. Paul Dawson is a tackling machine, in the mold of Luke Keuchly. He’s not as all-around good as Keuchly, but he’s a special talent that should not be overlooked here at 24.

25) Carolina – Ereck Flowers, OT/Miami (FL)

Carolina needs to help protect Cam Newton, who spent more time on his behind last season, than he did on his legs. They lost Jordan Gross before this past season, and they’re really lacking everywhere else on that line except center. Ereck Flowers is a big man who can play on the left or right side and he can be the blind side protector that Cam Newton severely needs.

26) Baltimore – Melvin Gordon, RB/Wisconsin

Justin Forsett was a nice story last season, but it's difficult to see the Ravens bringing him back long term, evident by the fact that they haven’t done so already. This means they need to find a new lead back to share the backfield with Flacco. Melvin Gordon has drawn Marshawn Lynch comparisons, and that is something that the Ravens should admire. He’s got great lateral quickness and is pretty hard to take down. He’s a downhill runner who isn’t afraid to ground and pound every now and then.  A perfect fit in Baltimore.

27) Dallas – Todd Gurley, RB/Georgia

Back to back running backs here! Dallas is losing DeMarco Murray, and this pick is solely based on them not acquiring Adrian Peterson from Minnesota. Todd Gurley would be a top 15 pick if he didn’t suffer a torn ACL last season. He’s still got great potential and Dallas should take a long hard look at Gurley in the first round.

28) Denver – Maxx Williams, TE/Minnesota

Julius Thomas is gone, Demaryius Thomas is franchised, Welker is a free agent, yikes. Peyton Manning is coming back, and he’ll be coming back to a vastly different complimentary set of receivers. He’ll need a new TE toy to play with this season, and Maxx Williams is that guy. He’s a big, tall guy who has an incredibly large catch radius. He’s a top red zone target and draws Kyle Rudolph comparisons. He, unlike Rudolph, should actually live up to the hype.

29) Indianapolis – TJ Clemmings, OT/Pittsburgh

Another team in desperate need of some offensive line help. They’ve got something in Castonzo, but other than that, they’re pretty weak. TJ Clemmings is the prototypical “Solid” player. He won’t be terrible but he won’t be outstanding either. He’ll be a B rated guy for 10-15 years, which is far better than anything the Colts currently have.

30) Green Bay – Eddie Goldman, DT/Florida State

Well, so much for BJ Raji returning. Raji inked a one year deal before the season and spent the entire season on injured reserve. The Packers will need a clogger in the middle of that defensive line and Goldman is the perfect man for the job. He’s just got a name that fits for the Packers, and an impressive game to back it up. He’s strong, athletic and physical, all three traits you want to see in a starting DT.

31) Seattle – Devin Funchess, WR/Michigan

Seattle is getting the best of both worlds here with Funchess, who can line up outside as a wide receiver or inside as a tight end. He’s a very big target, Kelvin Benjamin sized, but he doesn’t have the drop concerns that Benjamin had. He’s also got an incredible vertical and a solid 40 time. He’ll move into Seattle as one of Russell Wilson’s new favorite targets.

32) New England – Cameron Erving, OT(OG)(C)/Florida State

The Patriots had more than 5 different offensive line setup’s last season, something that is pretty incredible to believe existing on a Super Bowl winning team. Imagine how much better they could be if they improved just one spot on that offensive line. Cameron Erving is the perfect fit for New England because he can play anywhere on that O-Line. So if an injury occurs, just put Erving there and you can be confident that you’ll have a good blocker with good footwork. It’s the perfect Super Bowl gift for Tom Brady.
