The Denver Broncos announced on Thursday that 17-year veteran Peyton Manning will return to the Broncos for the 2015 season by taking a a $4 million paycut.

Peyton Manning signed a reduced contract that will have the Broncos quarterback take a $4 million paycut having his 2015 season salary drop from $19 million to $15 million.

Last season, Manning threw for 4,727-yards on 395 competitions for 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. His 4,727 passing yards was the second most of his career only behind his 5,477-yard performance in the 2013 season.

In the 2015 season, Manning will have a chance to regain the $4 million he lost in the reduced contract through incentives. His contract includes a $2 million bonus for winning the AFC Championship and $2 million bonus for winning the Super Bowl.

However, Manning will not have history on his side as no quarterback over 38-years old has ever won the Super Bowl. The oldest quarterback to ever win was Broncos general manger and Vice President of Football Operations, John Elway.

The Broncos will try to build a win-now team around Manning this free-agency. Their first big move to make is to re-sign TE Julius Thomas after they decided to use the franchise tag on WR Demaryius Thomas.

Manning and the Broncos organization know that his career is winding to end and there is not much time left to bring a Lombardi Trophy home to Denver before his time is up.
