Andrew Quarless is a man of intrigue in the city of Green Bay. He is seen above catching a touchdown pass in the NFC Divisional Game against the Dallas Cowboys. He has been a tight end who can have highs and lows, and has been the primary tight end in Green Bay after Jermichael Finley suffered a career ending injury against the Cincinnati Bengals.

In 2014, He was rotating in and out with rookie tight end Richard Rodgers. He had 29 catches for 323 yards with 3 touchdowns. Those are mostly career highs as Andrew Quarless is not even mentioned in the same breath as the elite tight ends of Rob Gronkowski or Jimmy Graham. But he was useful in Green Bay, and he was often the target of fades from Aaron Rodgers in goal line or other situations.

But on July 4, 2015, Andrew Quarless was arrested in Miami, Florida after allegedly firing his gun during an altercation. Given the fact that Quarless is not a terribly great tight end, is it time for the Packers to go ahead and cut him loose?

This writer says that they should. Richard Rodgers will be able to develop his talent as the top tight end on the team and if they decide to use a two tight end set then they can use the young, rarely used tight end from the University of Maine, Justin Perillo. Perillo is mostly a blocking tight end while Quarless could both block and catch. They also had drafted a quarterback in the seventh round named Kennard Backman from UAB.

The Packers always have used the draft and develop routine to take care of how they use their players. Why not continue that trend now as it comes to the area of off the field issues? Richard Rodgers should rise up and be the top tight end for the Packers, and make Rodgers to Rodgers a top tier connection.
