In the sports world we are seeing players getting injured doing stuff off the field. For instance, falling down the stairs, playing sports for fun, and other stuff. During the July 4th weekend New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul injured his hand during a fireworks incident. Reports are he has burns on his palm and tip of three fingers; luckily there wasn't any permanent damage or disfigurement of his hands.

Last season for the Giants, Pierre Paul recorded 77 combined tackles, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and 12.5 sacks. Pierre-Paul was one of the bright spots on a losing season for the Giants; he proved that he is the guy that they can build the defense around. He will be looking to produce bigger number this season hopefully leading the Giants back to the playoffs.

There is a reason why Pierre-Paul is the guy the Giants can build the defense around. He is a great pass rusher who puts a lot of pressure on the quarterback with his speed and quickness, and does a pretty good job stopping the run. Pierre-Paul's strength is his ability to get after the quarterback and racking up big sack totals.

On the Giants side of things there might be a little bit of questioning in the front office, like how exactly did he get injured with the fireworks? It might as well impact his play during the season, if his hands are not 100 percent. There is a good chance that Pierre Paul will be ready for the Giants ready for kickoff.

On the Pierre Paul side of things he will want his hands to be at 100 percent, coming into the season. Since he is not  technically under contract since he hasn't  signed his franchise tender, he will probably want a lot of money. The Giants and him are not really seeing eye to eye in contract talks. He is on the franchise tag right now, which is worth $14.8 million, which he hasn't signed yet. He will be worth a lot more than that when he hits the free agent market. He has till July 15th to sign a new deal or he will have to play with the franchise tag the rest of the season.
