NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's suspension for his role in the Deflategate scandal.

Brady will have to sit out for the team's first four games of the upcoming season. He will miss the matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Coincidentally (or maybe not), Brady's first game back will be against the team that started this whole spiel, the Indianapolis Colts.

Brady was originally suspended for his role in deflating the balls used in the AFC Championship game against the Colts in January. The Patriots won the game 45-7 en route to winning their fourth Lombardi Trophy in the team's history. The NFL found that for the first half of the game, the Pats used underinflated balls. Brady denied any wrongdoing and said he knew nothing about it.

After appealing his four game suspension for his role in Deflategate, Brady's suspension will not be reduced or terminated by Commissioner Goodell.

Earlier Tuesday, it was reported that Tom Brady destroyed his cell phone in order for the NFL not to obtain any evidence from it. If this is true, it shows that Brady clearly had something to hide.

The NFL released a statement saying, "Based on the Wells Report and the evidence presented at the hearing, Commissioner Goodell concluded in his decision that Brady was aware of, and took steps to support, the actions of other team employees to deflate game footballs below the levels called for by the NFL's Official Playing Rules."

Roger Goddell also released a statement of his own. "Notwithstanding my enormous respect for his accomplishments on the field and for his contributions and role in the community, I find that, with respect to the game balls used in the AFC Championship Game and the subsequent investigation, Mr. Brady engaged in conduct detrimental to the integrity of, and public confidence in, the game of professional football."

If they chose too, Brady and his team can now take this battle to federal court. If they do it will take a very long time until this issue is resolved. For now, Pats nation can look forward to watching the quarterback of the future play in Jimmy Garoppolo.
