This has to be the feel good story of the NFL season and the season didn't even start yet. This was a crushing blow to the Kansas City Chiefs and Eric Berry last year. Kansas City lost one of their best defensive players and leaders and it must have been hard to watch Berry go through treatment knowing he could be on the field helping his team out.

But today the Chiefs confirmed the great news that Berry was cancer free and he would be returning to the Chiefs on Wednesday to practice.

This will be a huge morale boost for the Chiefs and for Berry as he gets to resume his playing career again after wondering if he would ever step on the field again. Berry will return to a defense that was second in defensive passing yards last year and his presence will make the defense even better. His leadership and play making ability will make the secondary stronger as the Chiefs will face some strong passing attacks this season in the likes of the Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers, Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Lions

Berry returning right around training camp time gives him even more time to get back with the team and get back into the groove of things as he won't have to go out on the field during the regular season rusty. The preseason games for the Chiefs should be a good indication of how much Berry has progressed since he started and how much he still needs to do to get back.

Nobody knows how good Berry will be when he gets back on the field and how long it takes him to recover but the positive thing is that he is back on the field. Kansas City will be looking to make a push towards the playoffs this year and getting Berry back right around training camp time will help for sure.
