While starting training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list can be a scary thing for many fans to see, it isn't the case forChicago Bears rookie wide receiver Kevin White. White suffered a shin injury in the final days of Organized Team Activites and has been resting ever since. White will be back on the field when his injury is fully healed.

This injury could affect White's playing time come the regular season. Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said earlier this year that White was battling for the 4th wideout spot on the team and missing time could allow players like Marquess Wilson to solidify their positions in the depth chart ahead of White. When White gets back on the field, he will make to up for lost time and try to climb up the depth charts. Many have projected him starting alongside Alshon Jeffrey as the #2 wide receiver on the team.

Add to the fact that Bears head coach John Fox doesn't like to play rookies and White could find himself struggling to find playing time. However, considering that White is a top ten pick, Fox could make an execption. The Bears have to remain patient as White's injury doesn't seem as serious.

White's development as a wide receiver will take some time. He wasn't the most polished wideout coming out of college but showed the most raw talent and was the best player available when he fell to the Bears. He has the size and speed to be a good player in the NFL, but adjusting from the college game takes time. Cornerbacks are faster and stronger and some good college wide receivers cannot adjust. It will take time for White but he has all the physical tools to be a successful receiver. Only time will tell id he develops into the quality wide receiver Chicago seems to think he can become.
