Wide receiver James Jones will reportedly sign a one-year deal with the New York Giants, pending the result of his physical.

James Jones was drafted by the Green Bay Packers out of San Jose St University back in 2007, and he played for the first seven years of his career. Jones was apart of the teams Super Bowl XLV victory in 2010 and in 2012 set a career high with 14 receiving touchdowns. Jones played one season with the Oakland Raiders in 2014. He had 73 catches for 666 yards and 6 touchdowns.

In May after a very strong showing for a bad Raiders team, Jones was surprisingly cut.  After having a limited amount of visits it looked as if Jones might spend the 2015 season watching from his home. That will not be the case as he has found a home with the Giants.

Jones adds an excellent veteran presence to the Giants along with a good athletic skill set. Throughout his career he has been a reliable number 3 receiver playing mostly behined Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb in Green Bay.

This is an excellent add for the Giants as he will play behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz who is recovering from a torn patella tendon. He will likely compete with Reuben Randle for the third receiver spot on the Giants depth chart. The move makes the Giants very loaded at the wide receiver position. James Jones has usually been fairly consitent throughout his NFL career and can potentially be a huge factor playing behined the other Giants star reveivers.

Giants current offensive cordinator Ben McAdoo was with Jones in Green Bay from when Jones was drafted in 2007 until his departure in 2013, when Jones left for Oakland and McAdoo left to join the Giants coaching staff.

Next year the Giants will look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2011-12, when they won the Super Bowl. If James Jones stays with the team into the season he will help them to have a dominant offense to help get them back into the playoffs in 2015.
