After the slew of injuries and movements hit the Legion of Boom and its depth this offseason, the Seattle Seahawks secondary was in evident need of depth at the cornerback position.

Seattle added a new piece to help with that Sunday, acquiring cornerback Mohammed Seisay from the Detroit Lions. Seisay, 25, is an undrafted practice squad promotee from 2014, and he appeared in 13 games for the Lions last season.

Detroit received the Seahawks' sixth round pick for the 2016 NFL Draft in exchange for Seisay. The Lions will have to make lots of cuts in the secondary over the course of camp never mind the whole roster, and getting rid of Seisay is one step towards a less eventful series of cuts.

Seisay, a 6'2" Nebraska graduate, was not too noticeable in the secondary in 2014, recording a mere five tackles during the regular season. He also racked up a tackle in Detroit lone postseason matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card stage of the 2015 NFL Playoffs.

A sixth round pick seem to be a bit much from the Seahawks of all teams in return, as Seattle is known for finding top talent in the late rounds of the NFL Draft such as now Legion of Boom star teammates CB Richard Sherman and SS Kam Chancellor, both of whom were selected by the 'Hawks as fifth-rounders. Chancellor is currently holding out of camp for a new contract.

Thanks to the @Lions for starting my career. Excited to take the next step with the @Seahawks. #12thMan - here I come

Following the trade's release, Seisay tweeted out a short goodbye message to the Lions, and also expressed his understandable excitement to be joining the squad that performs in front of the renowned 12th Man at CenturyLink Field of Seattle.

Hopefully for Seisay, he makes the cut after training camp this summer, and then makes his way to get some solid play time alongside Sherman and company.

The Seahawks, in other news, have now locked up Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner to long awaited contract extensions spanning four years. Wilson is now one of the highest paid players in the league.

Seattle also cut veteran defensive tackle Tony McDaniel on Sunday. The team still has a lot to go before trimming the roster to meet the 53-man regular season guidelines.
