New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had one heck of a game in week eight against the New York Giants, feasting on their weak secondary. 505 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 78 percent of his pass attempts is absolutely amazing. The 36-year-old quarterback did throw two interceptions, but still, he played a fantastic game.

Brees kept many of his teammates happy during his historic performance. Tight end Benjamin Watson finished with 147 yards and a touchdown and receiver Marques Colston gained 114 yards and a score. Wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead were under 100 yards (88 and 70, respectively) but each did haul in six catches, two of which went for six. Running back C.J. Spiller even got on the board with a nine-yard reception that would tie the game late, forcing overtime.

Only one other quarterback has thrown for seven touchdowns in a game in the league's history, and that was done by the great Peyton Manning (who had a pretty good week himself, throwing for 340 yards while completing an excellent 72 percent of his pass attempts). Brees is now catching fire, as he is averaging 357 yards, three touchdowns and just one interception in his last three games.

When former Saints tight end Jimmy Graham headed to Seattle in the offseason, Brees and the Saints' future were in question. Now the team is in a position to make a run for a wildcard spot in the playoffs. They have one person to thank, and that is the Super Bowl champion quarterback Drew Brees.

New Orleans will play host to a struggling Tennessee Titans team in week nine, who has recently fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt. There is a good chance that Brees will be in the running for offensive player of the week again next week. He has been having a great season as of late, and not many people saw it coming.
