The Pittsburgh Penguins notched a 5-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets without Sidney Crosby, who is expected to return soon.

The game started to look good for the Pittsburgh Penguins when, at seven minutes into the game, Nick Spaling scored the team's first goal with assists from David Perron and Kris Letang. Then, almost 20 minutes into the game, Chris Thorburn received the first penalty for the Jets for hooking.

The second period started with Chris Thorburn tying up the game just two minutes in. At three and a half minute mark of the second, Ben Chiarot (Winnipeg) and Zach Sill (Pittsburgh) each received a five-minute penalty for fighting. Both teams received yet another penalty for slashing. While Chris Thorburn and Kris Letang were serving their penalties for slashing, Winnipeg pulled into the lead when Jacob Trouba scored the team's second goal. Pittsburgh's player, Steve Downie, managed to tie up the game before the end of the second period with assists from Kris Letang and Marcel Goc.

The third period saw Winnipeg getting two more penalties for slashing and charging. They also managed to pull ahead for a few minutes, but the Penguins fought back and went on to win the game with a final score of 5-3.

It was a great game that was well played by both teams. Many believe that the Penguins need Crosby to win games but tonight's game proved that it takes team work to win because even with Crosby not playing, the Penguins managed to beat a pretty solid team in the Jets.
