The Boston Bruins acquired forward Brett Connolly from the Tampa Bay Lightning during the early hours of Monday in exchange for Boston's second-round picks in both the 2015 and 2016 NHL Drafts.

Connolly, 22, has 12 goals and three assists along with 38 penalty minutes in 50 games for Tampa Bay this season. Originally selected sixth overall by the Lightning in the 2010 NHL Draft, Connolly has recorded 18 goals and 32 points to accompany 72 penalty minutes in 134 NHL games. Connolly spent significant time with the Syracuse Crunch (Tampa's AHL affiliate) where he was nearly a point-per-game player.

The Bruins will still have selections in the second round in both 2015 and 2016 from the trade that sent Johnny Boychuk to the New York Islanders prior to the start of the season.
