The Tampa Bay Lightning were crushed after losing game one at the Amalie. The best home team in the NHL and the worst road team in the playoffs would not let themselves go down 2-0 going to Hockeytown, however, as Tampa dominated the Detroit Red Wings in all facets of the game tonight.

The Lightning came back ready to fight Detroit, and they started with a goal from Tyler Johnson on the Powerplay after the Red Wings were called for instigating a fight near the beginning of the game. Despite many more chances for Tampa the rest of the period, Mrazek continued trying to keep the Wings only one goal down, which is how the first period ended.

Mrazek had been unbelievably good in game one, but Mrazek got beat badly in the second period. He gave up three goals to Andrej Sustr, Alex Killorn, and Johnson as the Red Wings would go to the locker room with a standing ovation from all the Lightning fans in the Amalie.

Jimmy Howard was then named goalie going into the third period. Tomas Tatar would score a nice goal for the Red Wings to avoid the shutout from Ben Bishop, who had a fantastic bounce-back game for the Lightning this afternoon. Valterri Filppula would end up scoring on former teammate Howard to make it 5-1. Every single Red Wing finished with a 0 rating or in the negatives in the plus/minus department except for defenseman Marek Zidlicky, who was on the ice for the Wings' goal and none of Tampa Bay's.

Both teams continued their Western Conference styles, playing extremely aggressive and getting many big hits in against the opposition. Both teams are likely to be tired, but with an extra day off between games 2 and 3, they should be ready to continue their physical play in Detroit on Tuesday. Who the Red Wings goaltender will be for Game 3 is up in the air; however, Howard played a good third period in relief of Mrazek and could relieve him of his duties after his four-goals-allowed performance in Game 2.

The good news for the Red Wings is that they have two home games coming up on Tuesday and Thursday, and they stole Game 1 from the Lightning, giving them home ice advantage. If the Red Wings can win both games 3 and 4 at home, they will head into Tampa for game 5 up 3-1 and at least a potential game 6 game at home. While Wings fans should be disappointed with the loss in Game 2, the series is far from over heading to the Motor City.
