There has been so much movement going on this offseason in the NHL. There were many trades going on during the draft, and we already saw one Wednesday with Phil Kessle heading to Pittsburgh. There could be another blockbuster trade that could happen involving the New York Rangers. There is a report that defensemen Keith Yandle is on the Rangers' trading block.

Last season with the Arizona Coyotes and Rangers, Yandle scored six goals, produced 46 assists, and had a +/- of -26 in 84 games played. Since his acquisition last season in a trade with Arizona, the Rangers were hoping Yandle would be able to help them go further into the playoffs. They made to the conference finals, but they lost to the Tampa Bay Lighting.

The report that Yandel is on the block is a little crazy, but maybe the Rangers think it is time to start all over. They already fired the general manager, so it might look like it is time to start over. If they do trade Yandle, the pieces they will most likely want back for him are prospects, draft picks, and goal-scoring forwards since they need those types of players.

Look for a team such as the Anaheim Ducks to look into calling the Rangers about acquiring the defensemen. The Ducks need defensive help. The offense is fine, so if they could land Yandle, they could be able to become a Stanley Cup-contending team for quite a while. For what the Rangers can bring back in return, the Ducks have some prospects that are promising; they also have some young goal-scoring potential players that they could get rid of as well.

Another team that could be interested in him is the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings are having problems with defense as well. The team does not have any strong defensemen to take off the pressure of superstar Drew Doughty. Their prospect pool is pretty good, and they have some good young goal-scoring wingers that they might be willing to give up.

The team that grabs Yandle has to worry about his salary cap because Yandle has a big salary. Surely, teams could make some cap room if they really want to go after him. We will just have to wait and see what happens next with Yandle.
