The Blackhawks banner for winning the Western Conference last year was just revealed.

All of the Lights being played while they Blackhawks put projections celebrating the Cup win on the ice

For Red Bulls fans, Ambrose Oyongo just got a straight red, and Sascha Kjlestan puts the PK right down the middle into the net to put the Red Bulls up 1-0!

The player to watch for the Blackhawks is Artem Anisimov. It is intriguing to see how the former Blue Jacket and Ranger plays for the Hawks this season on the first really great team that he’s been on in his career. Playing your former team should add motivation, which can only help Anisimov and the Blackhawks.

The player to watch for the Rangers in this game has to be Mats Zuccarello who played well in the preseason but the regular season is an entirely different animal. It will be very interesting to see how “Zucc” plays against one of the best teams in the NHL tonight.

Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford talked about the feeling of winning the cup last season, “The feelings that you get after you win is something that you want to do again and you want to keep repeating. It definitely feels great be a champion, but now it doesn't mean anything anymore. We've got to build towards another one."

It will be interesting to see how much Dylan McIlrath plays as the seventh defenseman on the Rangers roster. It will similarly be interesting to see how Oscar Lindberg, Viktor Stalberg and Jarret Stoll play. Stalberg and Stoll are Cup champions so they will bring that mentality to the Rangers. Lindberg played very well in the preseason and as a result the Rangers basically had to keep him up because he would have to clear waivers before going down to Hartford.

The loss of Mats Zuccarello in the postseason last year really effected the team and in yours truly’s opinion they would’ve won Game 7 of the ECF if Zucc was in the game. He would’ve provided the spark the Rangers needed in an elimination game.

Defenseman Keith Yandle was acquired by the Rangers at the trade deadline last year from the Arizona Coyotes. He played very poorly at some points and decent at others, especially in the playoffs. “I definitely wouldn't want to play against us," he said. "We're a team that can play in all three zones really well, and we're fast. It's only exciting things for this group.”

The Rangers youngsters in Chris Krieder, Kevin Hayes, J.T. Miller, Derek Stepan and Jesper Fast should be fun to watch again, as they are all very talented youngsters. Hayes is coming off a year where his stellar play was overshadowed, but has to follow his rookie year up with another big year. Jesper Fast could possibly fill in Carl Hagelin’s place on the Rangers offense this season as a third line winger. Last year this group combined for 70 goals and 113 assists last season.

Rangers right winger Rick Nash talked about the window for a cup to SI.com saying, “Guys notice we have a window to win a championship, with the cap and everything there’s a window where you can keep guys together and I feel we know we’re in that window now, and we have to win now. It’s not like we have years and years to lose and have another shot at it. In the room we feel like we have to do it now.” The Rangers this year need another big year by Rick Nash but more than that they need it to translate to the spring and early summer months.

The Rangers best position collectively will continue to be the defensive corps powered by captain Ryan McDonagh, Dan Girardi, Marc Staal, Kevin Klein and a few others. The Rangers defenseman are some of the best in the NHL.

The Rangers' key additions include Anti Raanta, Emerson Etem, and Jarret Stoll. The Rangers' key subtractions include Carl Hagelin, Cam Talbot, and Marty St. Louis. The Rangers also got a bunch of depth signings and signings destined for Hartford. It became very obvious that it was time for Marty St.Louis to hang up the skates after last season. He played very poorly in the playoffs, mightily costing the Rangers at certain times.

The Blackhawks this year will be interesting, a very different look than years past, as Kane’s status is up in the air and the lack of usual mainstays Versteeg, Saad and Sharp. Some of their good young prospects like Marko Dano will have to step up and make an impact for a long time this season along with Toews and Marian Hossa

The Blackhawks' key additions include former Ranger Artem Anisimov, Ryan Garbutt and Trevor Daley in this offseason. Their key departures include Patrick Sharp, Brandon Saad, Brad Richards, Antoine Vermette, Kris Versteeg and current Ranger Anti Raanta.

The offseason for one of the Blackhawks’ best players was not a good one. Patrick Kane, in early August, was arrested and accused of rape. After the accusations came out he was removed by EA Sports from being the co-cover boy along with teammate Jonathan Toews on NHL 16. The trial is still underway.

The President’s Trophy winner goes up against the Stanley Cup winners in this first matchup of the NHL regular season for both teams. The Chicago Blackhawks last year won the Stanley Cup by dispatching the Tampa Bay Lightning.  The Rangers lost in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals to the runner-up Tampa Bay Lightning. This is the home opener for the Hawks so they will be raising the banner and receiving their rings for winning the Stanley Cup last year.
