It is now official. Sharks top left-winger Tomas Hertl will miss game three of the Stanley Cup Final. Hertl has been one ofthe best Sharks players throughout the playoffs as he has scored 6 goals and has had 5 assists through 20 games of postseason play. Coach Pete DeBoer said that Hertl will be replaced by Dainius Zubrus, a healthy scratch in game 2.

Another storyline to watch will be the availability of Tomas Hertl in game three. Hertl missed practice Friday and all coach Pete DeBoer said was that he had a little something and for that reason he was kept out. He has been arguably the Sharks best player throughout these playoffs and the potential loss of Hertl will be a big factor in the game and a big loss for the Sharks going forward in this series.

The first Penguins player to watch is Conor Sheary. The overtime hero in game two has already scored twice during the Finals. He has been a stud during the entire playoffs and has had a huge role in the success of the Penguins. If Sheary continues to play at a high level it will help take the pressure off some bigger players such as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Another player to watch for the Pens is Carl Hagelin. He has registered two points in the first two games of the finals and has exceeded all expectations for him since being placed on a line with Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel. If Hagelin and his linemates continue the stellar play, the Penguins should have no problem gaining a 3-0 lead in the series.

Here are some players to watch for both sides. First for the Sharks a player to watch is Joe Pavelski. Pavelski is the current playoff leader with 13 goals and is second in points with 22. After coming into the Finals red hot, Pavelski has failed to replicate the magic he had in the conference finals and has been held scoreless and pointless by the tough defenders of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Another player to watch will be Sharks goalie Martin Jones. Jones has been forced to stand on his head during these Stanley Cup Finals and he has done a superb job. The Sharks have been dominated in the shot department throughout the entire series and Jones has come up big numerous times. On 71 shots this series Martin Jones has given up just 5 goals. He has had a number of incredible and miraculous saves and if the defense in front of him doesn't start to improve soon, the Sharks will be in huge trouble.

Game three should feature of the same tight, physical play we have seen thus far from the two teams. The Sharks are in a must-win situation as they cannot afford to go down 3-0 in this best-of-7 series. As for the Penguins, a game three victory would give them a 3-0 lead and they could potentially close out the series in four games on Monday.

A few days later in game two the Sharks came out flat and were outshot mightily in the first two periods and entered the third trailing 1-0 after Phil Kessel scored midway through the second period to give the Pens a lead. The Sharks were not done though and they came out firing on all cylinders early in the third. After hitting the post a few times and a couple of failed power plays, San Jose was finally rewarded for their effort and they evened the game up with just 4:05 left in regulation on a goal from Justin Braun. The two teams went into overtime and again the Penguins prevailed. Just over two minutes into overtime, Conor Sheary scored the winning goal sending the Penguins to San Jose with a 2-0 lead in the series.

In game one, the Penguins defeated the Sharks 3-2. The Penguins stormed out to a 2-0 lead after quick goals from Bryan Rust and Conor Sheary. The Sharks made a fierce second-period rally as they got goals from Tomas Hertl and Patrick Marleau. The teams played an aggressive, competitive game for all three periods and with just 2:33 separating the two teams from overtime, center Nick Bonino scored to give the Penguins a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The goal and the win gave the Penguins a 1-0 series lead leaving them just three wins away from winning the Stanley Cup Final.

Heading back to San Jose, the Sharks are in a big whole as the Pittsburgh Penguins currently hold a 2-0 lead in the series after winning the first two games at home. Here is a look back at how the Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 series lead.
