Western New York Flash forward Jessica McDonald was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association for Week 10 of the 2016 NWSL season.

McDonald, 28, tallied a hat trick and an assist to help the Flash earn a 7-1 victory over the Boston Breakers Friday night. It was the team's fourth win at home in five consecutive games this season. With the victory, the Flash sit tied for second place with the Chicago Red Stars in the league standings at 6-4-0 with 18 points. The teams face off this Friday night in a crucial match.

McDonald scores twice in 15 minutes

The native of Phoenix, Arizona scored her first goal of the game early in the 28th minute when she netted a short pass inside the top of the box from Sam Mewis.

She then scored again in the 43rd minute when she headed the ball into the back of the net off a cross inside the box from Flash midfielder Elizabeth Eddy.

McDonald gets her hat trick early in the second half

McDonald secured her hat trick in the 49th minute when she connected with a cross into the box from defender Jaelene Hinkle.

McDonald played 75 minutes in the game and finished with five shots (four on goal).

It is the first time the much traveled McDonald has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Week and is the 11th time a member of the Flash has won the award.

McDonald signed with the Red Stars in 2013 and appeared in nine matches before being waived and signed by Seattle.  In 2014 she scored 11 goals in 24 games with the Portland Thorns FC. In 2015 she scored 5 goals in 9 games with the Houston Dash.
