This past Saturday, Western New York Flash competed against the Thailand Women's National Team. During this game, 28-year old midfielder Lianne Sanderson tore her ACL in her right knee and won't be available to play for the rest of the season.

She is not only a huge asset on the field, but a massive part of our locker room and team character. The most important thing is getting Lianne healthy and back playing. She is a true lover of football and I know she will do everything possible to return to playing in the shortest and safest time, and we will be with her every step of the way."- Head Coach Paul Riley to media

From Orlando Pride to WNY Flash and more

Last June, Sanderson was playing for Orlando Pride, who traded her to the Flash for an international spot for the next three seasons. Since being with the Flash, Sanderson has made started in eight games and has made nine appearances. With a total of 702 minutes of playing time she has scored three goals so far. Unfortunately, her assists and goal scoring will have to be put on hold until she returns fully recovered and healthy.

Sanderson is also part of the England National Team. Last summer she competed in the 2015 Women's World Cup as a forward for the team and even excelled to the semifinals in Canada.
