Jorge Lorenzo closed out a dominant weekend at the Jerez Circuit with his first victory of the season and the 55th of his career. Starting from pole, the Spaniard set the pace of the race from the lights to the checkers.

Finishing behind him in second position was the reigning two-time World Champion No. 93 Repsol Honda of Marc Marquez - who was riding this weekend with a broken finger and a strong desire for a win after crashing out in the final laps of last round in Argentina. He rode strong considering the injury, finishing just 5.576 seconds behind the Movistar Yamaha of Jorge Lorenzo.

Rounding out the podium was Valentino Rossi, who closed a gap of two seconds between he and Marquez with 10 laps to go to just one second with seven laps to go. Unlike last round in Argentina, Marquez was able to hold off the Italian behind him, but Rossi still earned his 200th World Championship podium.

Cal Crutchlow of CWM LCR Honda rode to a rather silent fourth place finish 3.8 seconds ahead of the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 of Pol Espargaro. The highest-finishing Ducati was Andrea Iannone in fifth after he won a hard-fought battle for the position with Team Suzuki Ecstar's Aleix Espargaro. Eighth place went to Bradley Smith of Tech 3 and the second Ducati of Andrea Dovizioso finished ninth. Completing the top ten was Pramac Racing's Yonny Hernandez on another Ducati-powered machine.

In regards to the points standings through four rounds, Rossi (82 points) holds a 15-point lead over fellow Italian Andrea Dovizioso (67 points). Jorge Lorenzo (62 points) is third with Marquez (56 points) behind him in fourth.

The next round of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship will be the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France on May 17 in Le Mans, France.
