The saga surrounding US Men's National Team World Cup star Jermaine Jones has finally come to an end. 

Major League Soccer and the New England Revolution announced Sunday that Jermaine Jones had signed a one year contract for an undisclosed amount of money, but that he would indeed be a Designated Player. The Revolution will present Jones to the media on Tuesday at Gillette Stadium after his first training session with the Revs. 

So much publicity surrounded the 32 year old after his standout World Cup for the USMNT where he notched a goal and an assist in 4 starts. Rumors circled for over a month after the World Cup concluded about where the costless agent would end up next. The majority of rumors had to do with Chivas USA, Chicago Fire, and the New England Revolution. Additionally, at the end of the day both the Revolution and the Fire met the demands of the league for them to sign Jermaine. According to MLS, a blind draw was conducted between the 2 clubs and at the end of it all Jermaine Jones was assigned to the New England Revolution. 

Revolution investor and operator Jonathan Kraft was over the moon with his new signing. “This is a great opportunity for us to add one of the best players in the United States to our club, We thought Jermaine was the best player for the U.S. in the World Cup and we are excited to welcome him to New England. Robert and I have always said that any major DP signing would need to make an impact, on and off the field, and we believe the addition of Jermaine will do just that."

Jermaine Jones' destination has finally been revealed and he will join the New England Revolution upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Jermaine will immediately be expected to perform on the field for the Revs who are only 1 point out of a playoff position behind the 5th place New York Red Bulls. Jermaine has proven at the international level and club level that he can completely boss the middle of the field, defend, and score goals. 

Jermaine Jones really came on to everybody's map when he joined top Bundesliga club Schalke 04 in 2007. He endured a fruitful seven year spell with Shalke that included 129 league appearances, as well as 25 appearances in the UEFA Champions League. 

Jermaine also has appeared 46 times for the US Men's National Team since 2009. Jermaine was not every US Soccer fans favorite player going into the World Cup having only scored twice and not having played up to his ability, but everyone soon forgot about that with his latest performances in this years World Cup. 

Jermaine's last club was Beskitas which he joined in January, making 10 appearances.
