While most MLS fans were watching the New York-New England playoff match Sunday afternoon, some playing FIFA Ultimate Team came across a big mistake by EA Sports. The company accidently leaked the New York City FC and Orlando City SC away kits. As you can see here in this post on Twitter.
The two MLS expansion franchises set to enter the league in March had unveiled their home kits earlier this month, but the expectation was that they would wait until MLS Jersey Week to release the away strips.
Unlike the home kit, the away kit has more of a New York feel to it as sporting director Tim Pernetti had mentioned previously this month. The kit incorporates diagonal pinstripes, a nod to the other majority owner, the New York Yankees.
Many in the NYCFC community believe that the club purposely leaked the kit after lukewarm reaction to the home strip. The away strip generated very positive reviews on NYCFC blogs and comment boards. That, of course, is just speculation right now as we inch closer to the debut of both expansion clubs. The next big step for both clubs will be the MLS Expansion Draft which will take place on December 10th.
