Real Salt Lake has started the offseason with moves that have shocked their fan base. The first piece of news likely shocked them the most. Carlos Salcedo wrote a letter to the fans and team stating that he no longer wants to be with the team. The letter reads:

"Hello, everyone,

I would like to thank the owner, staff, and my teammates at RSL for the 2014 season. I have, together with my closest family decided not to stay with RSL for 2015 season and asked the team not to pick up my option. It has been a hard decision to make, but a necessary one for me.

My SLC experience has been unreal and a second home for me the last two seasons. I have enjoyed every single second of my time at this beautiful city.

It is a decision based on personal differences with the GM at the club, who has, unfortunately, not kept his verbal commitments to myself or my father and has not at any point been interested in resolving our differences.

I wish everyone at RSL a good 2015 and look forward to follow the organization from a distance. Goodbye.

Yours Sincerely,

Carlos Salcedo #16"

Many fans have gone off about this saying that he was the future of the club. He mostly played as a centerback for the club when he was called into action.

Real Salt Lake has declined the options for Robbie Findley, Aaron Maund, Benji Lopez, and Rich Balchan. Most of the fans are fine with Findley being gone, as he couldn't live up to expectations for the club or the fans.

The most recent news has sent ripples throughout the fan base. There have been reports stating that Nat Borchers has been sent to the Portland Timbers for allocation money. The team has done this before, last offseason with Fabian Espindola, Jonny Steele, and Jamison Olave going to the New York Red Bulls as well as Will Johnson going to the Timbers.

As for the truth to this rumor, nobody knows except for Borchers and the two teams. There has been, however, a picture of Nat holding up a PTFC scarf that provides evidence that the rumor is true. While most of the RSL fan base is not happy about this move, others are optimistic about this move, thinking that going younger is the best for the club.

The front office and GM have their reasons for these moves, so they aren't done to ruin the club. RSL fans need to relax and focus on RSL news for the next couple of months, seeing what moves they make to add or remove players. Coming up soon is the expansion draft, which is something they should look closely at again.
