Houston Dynamo defender DaMarcus Beasley has announced his retirement from the U.S. Men’s National Team. Beasley represented the USA 121 times while scoring 17 goals. He is the third player to be named to four World Cup teams (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014) and his 11 World Cup matches is tied for second all-time for the national team. He is fifth all-time in appearances and debuted for the team in 2001. He is ninth on the all-time goals list and eighth in assists, with 13.

Beasley began his national team career as a part of the U-17 and U-20 teams that participated in the FIFA World Cups for those age groups, winning the Silver Ball in the 1999 U-17 tournament after helping the USA to the semifinals. The silver ball is awarded to the second-best player in the tournament.  Beasley was awarded the U.S. Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year in 2001.

Beasley began his career with the Chicago Fire, winning the 2000 and 2003 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup titles.  He has also played extensively in Europe, becoming the first American to score for two different teams in the Champions League, doing so with Rangers and PSV Eindhoven.  He also holds the national team record for most Champions League appearances (22).

He won four titles in Europe-two Dutch titles with PSV and two Scottish titles with Rangers. Other accomplishments include winning the Dutch double with PSV in 2005 while becoming the first USMNT player to appear in the Champions League semifinals and winning four CONCACAF Gold Cups.  He also played for Manchester City, Hannover 96 and Puebla before returning to Major League Soccer with the Dynamo after the 2014 World Cup.
