The Colorado Rapids will host the 2015 MLS All-Star Game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park according to the Denver Post. An official announcement from the league will come on Wednesday from MLS commissioner Don Garber. Dick's Sporting Goods Park was the site of the 2007 match between the MLS All-Stars and Scottish club Celtic. The MLS All-Stars won that match 2-0. This year’s opponent is still unknown, but it should be revealed Wednesday.

Last year, Portland hosted the game. The All-Stars beat then European Champions Bayern Munich in a match with high emotions, in which ended with Bayern coach Pep Guardiola refusing to shake All-Stars coach Caleb Porter. This year’s opponent could be English club Arsenal. Rapids owner Stan Kroenke is the largest shareholder in the Gunners.

From the Denver Post:

"Commerce City spokeswoman Michelle Halstead said the event would be dually hosted by Denver and Commerce City, with activities happening both in downtown Denver and near Dick's Sporting Goods Park. In addition to Garber, Colorado Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia, Rapids alternate Governor Josh Kroenke, Commerce City Mayor Sean Ford, President and CEO of Visit Denver Richard Scharf and Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni are scheduled to be in attendance at the official announcement."

The Rapids declined to comment on a possible date for the event, but it should be the week of August 2nd.

This would be the 12th All-Star Game in this format in which the MLS All-Stars play against a foreign club team. The All-Stars have a record of seven wins, three losses, and one draw. That draw came against Everton though they would lose on penalty kicks.
