The United States Soccer Federation and Men’s National Team manager Jurgen Klinsmann have announced the 23-man roster for Wednesday’s friendly with Chile. The roster was very MLS-heavy, as expected considering this game does not fall in an official FIFA Match Window. Clubs were not required to release their players for this match per FIFA rules.

Seven players who had been training with the team in California were released back to their clubs as Major League Soccer is just beginning with their pre-season training camps. Those players were Tesho Akindele (FC Dallas), Alex Bono (Toronto FC), Christian Dean (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Dennis Flores (Club Leon), Julio Morales (Tepic) and Oscar Sorto (LA Galaxy). Liverpool youngster Marc Pelosi will not travel with the team to South America but will continue training with them once they return to California.

New Tottenham Hotspur signing DeAndre Yedlin will join up with the National Team in Chile. He has yet to make an appearance with the senior team at Tottenham since joining the team just a few weeks ago. It is very interesting that he would be granted his release considering that Spurs was not required to do so.
