United States women’s national team goalkeeper Hope Solo has been reinstated by the team ahead of the upcoming Algarve Cup in Portugal. Earlier this year, a judge dismissed two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence against her. Solo had pleaded not guilty in that case and she continued to play for the U.S. team and her domestic club the Seattle Reign FC of the NWSL.

Solo is joining the team at the right time. They are only three to four month away from the 2015 Women's World Cup in Canada and the women's national team will need all the help they can get. The national team as struggled as of late and they could use a solid goalkeeper protecting the net. Ashlyn Harris filled in while Solo was suspended and the team will receive an upgrade when Hope is back between the goalposts.

On Wednesday, Solo did an interview with "Good Morning America" in regards to her suspension, “All of us, in my opinion, have a fundamental right to be considered innocent until proven guilty. I know US Soccer took a lot of heat but I am very grateful they let due process play itself out. Those eight months were some of the worst months of my entire life.”

She then spoke regarding the incident which caused the suspension, “Well, clearly, I wasn’t thinking. I mean, it was a horrible choice. … I think I just wasn’t in a good place, emotionally, to even make good decisions. I mean, it’s not an excuse but I just, it was stupid. Should’ve called a taxi.”

In regards to her emotions on the matter and other things, “I’m working through those emotions. I was filled with anger. I’m finally able to sit down, talk to somebody about what I’ve been going through — very traumatic events over the last year. Just being able to talk to somebody has been really beneficial to me. I can cry it out. I can try to understand it. It’s been healthy for me to talk it out and to deal with my emotions instead of tucking them away.”

Solo must now try to restore her image after it was tarnished over the last year, “I want people to realize I’m just human. I’m just human and I make mistakes. I want people to be able to forgive me they’re willing to do so. I just want to be the best athlete I can be, the best person I can be and I know I have a lot of room for improvement.”

One way she can get back on the public's good side is to stay out of trouble and be a better person and teammate. Let’s hope she learned her lesson and stays out of trouble as the national team needs her right now.
