It's only been two games, but Seattle Sounders 2 has been tough to keep from scoring. In their first match, S2 scored four goals against the defending USL champions, Sacramento Republic FC. Darwin Jones got his first start for the S2 on Sunday against the Vancouver Whitecaps 2 (WFC2) at Starfire Sports Complex. Jones may have earned another start after bagging S2's first ever hat trick.

WFC2’s first-ever starting lineup consisted of seven Canadians, five of whom graduated from the club’s Residency program. It also included five players currently on Whitecaps FC’s MLS roster. Besides goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi and Captain Tyler Rosenlund, every player on the starting lineup was 22 years of age or younger.

Jones began the scoring in the 17th minute after receiving a long cross from Andy Craven which found Jones in front of a wide open net and he was able to tap it in. Nine minutes later S2 added another goal. Center back Damion Lowe fired a shot from roughly 25 yards out that hit the post. Craven was there to head in the rebound for his second goal of the season. 12 minutes later in the 37th minute, Jones found the back of the net for the second time on the night. Craven sent a long pass that found Jones in the box and after fighting off a defender, he was able to get the ball past the goalkeeper in the bottom left of the goal.

WFC2 made two changes coming out of the half in bringing on Ian Christianson and Sahil Sandhu. Sandu added a little life to the Whitecaps attack, but it would not keep Seattle from continuing to dominate the match. Jones scored the fourth and final goal of the night in the 50th minute after a poorly cleared ball from Vancouver defender Ethan Sampson fell to Jones and he was able to volley the shot to complete his hat trick.

S2 has this weekend off before welcoming Portland Timber 2 on Saturday April 11 at 10:30 pm EST. WFC2 will be back at it this Wednesday when they take on the Austin Aztex. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:00 pm EST.
