Philadelphia Union Homegrown Player (HGP) Zach Pfeffer has been called up to the United States' Under-20 Men’s National Team. The 20 year old midfielder is one of 20 players who will be part of the US' training camp in Linz, Austria from April 18th to 26th.

Pfeffer, who's been with the Union since the age of 15, previously missed out on the US U20's January camp due to injury. However, he's become a favorite for Tab Ramos' team, earning 4 caps and scoring 2 goals since 2014, as well as earning significant time with the Union first team this season. He'll be in line to earn his 5th and 6th caps against Qatar on April 21 and Croatia on April 25, should he play.

Pfeffer recently scored the opener in a 2-1 victory at home to New York City FC. He had been filling in for the injured Christian Maidana, despite a three game suspension although Maidana returned to the starting lineup earlier this week. He will miss the Union's home match against New England on the 19th, as well on the road at Columbus on the 25th. He should however be back in time to help Philadelphia take on Toronto at home on May 2nd.

A wonderful opportunity, Pfeffer's call up is a well-timed for Philadelphia given the return of a number of first team players following an injury bug that swept through the team and left them with a depleted bench.

Pfeffer joins fellow MLS players Tommy Thompson, Conor Donovan, Matthew Miazga, Erik Palmer-Brown, Marco Delgado and Cristian Roldan.
