Kevin-Prince Boateng looks set to leave Bundesliga side Schalke this summer with a swap to New York with the Red Bulls just one of many options according to reports from Di Marzio

The Red Bulls are said to be leading the race for his signature and first talks are allegedly to get underway in the coming hours with Boateng who would no doubt become the clubs second designated player, joining Bradley Wright-Phillips.

The twenty-eight year old German born attacking midfielder has made a total of twenty-four appearances this season in all competitions scoring four and assisting one in the process.

Other options for the fifteen time Ghanian international include a switch to Arsenal or to Turkey with Galatasaray. However, the Galatasaray move pends on the club qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

Boateng isn't the only Ghanian who has been linked with the club either with current AC Milan man Michael Essien also being looked at.

The addition of Kevin-Prince Boateng would be a very good one for the Red Bulls but the question would be where does he fit into their current system? He is a strong box-to-box midfielder but the Red Bulls already have three solid central midfielders in Sacha Kljestan, Felipe Martins, and Dax McCarty.

More than likely we would see Kljestan be pushed to the left as he was in their previous game against New England Revolution with Boateng filling into the central attacking midfielder role behind Bradley Wright-Phillips.
