The Columbus Crew SC came into their match with the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday night from MAPFRE Stadium playing excellent football at home. They had won three of their four matches to this point while scoring ten goals in the process. They added another three to that total after a 3-2 win on Saturday night.

Kei Kamara scored twice including the game-winning goal in the 58th minute. Federico Higuain added a goal in the 49th minute for the home side. Clint Dempsey scored twice for the visitors.

It was a very entertaining match to watch especially for someone, like this writer, who does not get to see Columbus play very often. They were very fluid on offense with the attack coming down both wings as well as through the middle. Federico Higuain was like the team’s quarterback in attack. He always seemed to play the perfect ball into the right spot for his fellow attacking players whether it was Kamara, Justin Meram, Ethan Finlay, or Tony Tchani.

Columbus finished the match with 13 shots on target on 24 attempts. This is the biggest number of shots on target in a game that this writer has covered in a long time. By comparison, the Sounders on saw six shots hit the target, they attempted 11. Higuain, Meram, and Kamara each finished with three shots on target in the match.

Both clubs return to action next Saturday night on the road. The Crew will travel to the Bay Arena for a date with the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium. Seattle travels north on I-5 for a clash with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
