Clint Dempsey is an absolute beast on the pitch. But we already know that.

What many don't know is that in 10 straight regular season MLS appearances for Seattle Sounders FC, Dempsey has recorded at least one goal and one assist. That's only a single game below the record streak, set by Roy Lassiter (1998), Ronald Cerritos (1997), and Mauricio Cienfuegos (1997). Dempsey already has the lengthiest point streak in Seattle history, as the next best was a 9-gamer from Fredy Montero in 2010.

Sounders take the pitch at CenturyLink Field on Saturday night, facing Sporting Kansas City. With Obafemi Martins out of the lineup and Chad Barrett in his place, Deuce will have even more control of what transpires in Seattle's front line of attack. Sounders have also been in great form recently, following Dempsey's trend, so there should be a solid amount of shot production and conversion in the upcoming match.

Deuce's streak goes way back to October 19, 2014, when he began his streak with a goal versus LA Galaxy. He then set up a score in Seattle's final match of the regular season. While he only made his way onto the scoresheet in one of Sounders' four playoff games, Dempsey continued his streak this season, now having scored or assisted in each of his 8 matches. This is the only point streak of this length to come since the MLS's early days in '97 and '98. That makes this possibility of getting into the history books even more intriguing and grand.

The USMNT captain has been the consistent cog for the Sounders in achieving success for the past few seasons. He should continue to be a productive and constructive force in the Sounders' front line, regardless of whether he ties or shatters this record.
