Argentine international Sergio Aguero, Ivorian star Yaya Toure, and Spanish playmaker David Silva highlight some of the big names of English club Manchester City making it’s way to Toronto for an International Friendly with MLS club Toronto FC, Wednesday May 27th.

The 2014 Premier League champions fly over to North America just two days after completing their 2015 league campaign as a part of a preseason tour. After Toronto, the Citizens will head south to Houston to take on the Dynamo before heading to New York to watch New York City FC play host to Houston.

City finished second place, behind champions Chelsea in the league standings this past year with a 24-7-7 record.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini is expected to field a relatively young side due to his team’s game on Sunday (a 2-0 victory over Southampton), and the long trip over the Atlantic ocean. Highly touted youngsters Brandon Barker and Jose Pozo will be sure to get a look in.

Meanwhile, Toronto carry a wealth of big international names of their own with the likes of American players Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore - although the big striker is out nursing an injury - and former Juventus star Sebastian Giovinco in their squad.

Head coach Greg Vanney will be sure to give an opportunity to several reserve players to showcase their ability as his team plays three games in one week. Toronto (4-5-1) did not get off to the best of starts to their 2015 MLS campaign, but fresh off a 1-0 win over the Portland Timbers at BMO Field Saturday, league games will sure be the priority.

Following Wednesday’s friendly, the Reds host the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday and will want their starters rested.

“Anybody who has an injury or anything that they're carrying or trying to get over, we probably won't see too much of them, if any,” Vanney stated after Saturday's game. “But I think the group will use it sort of as a training session.

“I still think there's some connections we need to continue to build on as a team out on the field ... We'll see most everybody, at least for some point, some time in the game.”

Jay Chapman and Jordan Hamilton, two players who were on the bench for the game against Portland and also play for Toronto’s USL side Toronto FC II, will be sure to see minutes.

“Anything can happen in the beautiful game. Every day is an opportunity to prove you can play,” said Hamilton following Tuesday’s training.

TFC II captain Chris Mannella and out-on-loan striker Bright Dike will also expect to see some playing time. “Bright Dike is available for the friendly, but not for official league matches. We're getting a chance to reconnect with him,” Vanney explained.

Toronto has previously played host to the likes of 18-time Premier League champions Liverpool and 10-time Champions League winners Real Madrid, however this will be the first at the new BMO Field.

“David Silva, Aguero, they're all world class players. It'll be a great experience,” Mannella said, with a smile.
