Kansas City, Kan. - Wednesday night at Sporting Park turned out to be the "Dom Dwyer Show" as he led Sporting Kansas City vicious attack in a 6-2 victory over Western Conference foes FC Dallas in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 matchup.

Dwyer, became the first player in club history to score a hat-trick ever in a match at Sporting Park. The Englishman also became the first player in team history to score four goals in a match ever. Krisztian Nemeth added two goals to help advance Sporting KC further in the tournament, they have now clinched a spot in the Quarterfinals.

Sporting KC broke things open at the 5th minute mark when midfielder Benny Feilhaber crossed a corner kick into the box, where Dwyer was left unmarked and buried his header into the back of the net. In the 30th minute, Dwyer scored an almost identical goal to his first, when Feilhaber once again found him on yet another free kick just outside of the box.

Dwyer would complete the first half hat trick in the 40th minute when a give and go between Nemeth, midfielder Roger Espinoza and Dwyer gave way to a Penalty Shot after Dwyer was brought down in the box by FC Dallas defender Moises Hernandez. Nemeth found his own opening in the finally seconds of the first half when he took advantage of a flaw in the FC Dallas backline matching set-up. The Hungarian-native has now converted his first nine shots he's taken in his Sporting KC career, the first player in club history to ever do that.

Sporting took a 4-0 lead into the halftime break and instantly picked up where they had left off once the second half restarted. Nemeth, who showed that Sporting wasn't going to take their foot off the gas pedal past the break made it 5-0 when he scored the goal of the tournament so far by chipping FC Dallas keeper Chris Seitz from an improbable angle about 14 yards out from the net. The home-crowd of 19,000 plus was showed some serious skill tonight between the two-striking forces on the pitch for Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes, even with main starting XI member Graham Zusi gone on USMNT duties for the up-coming Gold Cup.

FC Dallas ended their streak of conceding nine straight goals in their two-matches at Sporting Park this year when they buried two second half goal past Sporting KC keeper Tim Melia. Melia, who came into tonight's match leading the league in average goals allowed with a ratio of 0.65/per match saw two knuckle shots get by him, but remained strong in net enough for Sporting to get the win, he faced five shots and ended the night with three saves.

Sporting KC, with tonight's victory now advance and will host the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday, July 21st in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal matchup.
