Commerce City—The LA Galaxy travel to the Mile High City following the MLS All-Star Game to take on the red-hot Colorado Rapids.

These two teams met previously this season, back on May 2nd in Los Angeles. The Rapids took the lead late in the first half at StubHub Center. Rapids forward Gabriel Torres buried a ball in the back of the net five minutes before the end of the half to take the 1-0 lead. The Galaxy would ultimately find a way to tie the game at 1-1 after forward Alan Gordon headed the ball into the back of the net with about 15 minutes remaining.

Tale Of The Tape

The Los Angeles Galaxy come into Saturday night’s riding a two game losing streak after dropping matches to FC Barcelona in the Guinness International Champions Cup and the Houston Dynamo in league play. Galaxy forward Robbie Keane, who leads the team with nine goals and ranks fourth in the MLS in goals, will look to break a yearlong streak against road opponents. The Galaxy have not won a game on the road since August 20, 2014, which was against the Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The third place Galaxy are 0-6-5 (W-L-D) on the road this season and are looking to try to jump the Vancouver Whitecaps into second place in the Western Conference standings.

The Colorado Rapids enter Saturday night riding a three game winning streak. A perfect 3-0 record in the month of July, the Rapids might have cooled themselves off after the long break. This will be the first match the Rapids have played since July 18, which could prove to be costly for the club. Still in last place in the Western Conference and with an MLS-low of 18 goals scored on the year, Colorado could finally move out of last place with a win against the Galaxy.

Players To Watch

Keane will look to keep his goal scoring touch on fire when his club rolls into Colorado. He did not play on May 2 when the two teams met in Los Angeles earlier in the year. Keane has scored seven goals in the last six games that he has started. He could be the saving grace that LA are looking for to break the road losing streak.

Gabriel Torres, the Rapids leading goal scorer with four, returns to the club after being absent due to the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Torres scored the lone goal for the Rapids on May 2 in Los Angeles. Torres looks to step back into his scoring roll and provide a boost to the Rapids offense that has been surprisingly potent as of late.

Kick-off is scheduled for Saturday, August 1 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
