Yahoo Sports is reporting that Aron Johannsson of the U.S. Men's National Team is looking into a move from his club in Europe to MLS. This report should not surprise too many USMNT fans, after the mass exodus of top National Team players to MLS in recent months.

Last month Johannsson told ESPN FC that he "wanted to move to MLS" during the peak of his career. At the age of 24, his "prime" is just around the corner, if not here already. If a move were to happen in the near future, Johannsson is looking for a yearly pay between $2 and $2.5 million, something most MLS clubs could not afford at this time. However, with the recent shake-ups from the league, "smaller" MLS clubs might be able to push for Johannsson if he does pursue a move stateside.

Johannsson spends his time playing for AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands. Those that recognize the team remember that Jozy Altidore spent some time with the club and found much success in scoring goals there. Johannsson has found equal success at Alkmaar, tallying 29 goals since joining the club back in 2013. It is his stellar performances at Alkmaar that landed him on Jurgen Klinsmann's radar.

At this time, there is no official word on Johannsson and his move to MLS. Last year he signed a contract extension that keeps him at Alkmaar through the 2017-2018 season. Granted, that is only three more years and he would still be a prime age to come to MLS and play at a high-level.

Time will certainly tell whether Johannsson want's to make the jump to MLS. If he does wait the full three years, who is to say he won't be the first signing of L.A. FC, Atlanta United, David Beckham FC or Minnesota United? MLS is a crazy and exciting world and as fans have come to learn, anything is possible with Don Garber as commissioner.
