The natives are restless in Columbus, as they woke up to hear that the Columbus Crew have signed striker Jack McInerney, in exchange for Columbus' 2016 Second Round draft pick in the MLS Super Draft. No details of the deal were released, as part of club and league policy. The 22 year old American striker has 36 career MLS goals, which makes him tied for 22nd amongst all active players. Among the top 24, with 36 goals scored as the minimum number, McInerney is the youngest, by at least three full years.

He'll be joining a high powered offense

Columbus currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference, and will face the Colorado Rapids this Saturday, August 8th. Columbus sits second in the league with overall goals scored (36), tied for first in total shots (317), first in shots on goal (120), and assists (42) and tied for second in goals scored in first 15 minutes of a match (six).

McInerney's pedigree

McInerney has made a total of 138 MLS appearances so far in his career, with 87 of those with him named in the starting XI. Drafted seventh overall in 2010 by the Philadelphia Union, he had a career high of 12 goals in his breakout season in 2013 for the Union. During that year, he was named an MLS All Star and received a well earned call-up to the United States Men's National Team by manager Jurgen Klinsmann to particpate in the 2013 Gold Cup.

"Jack Mac" as fans call him, also impressed during the Montreal Impact's run in the CONCACAF Champions League, where he scored three goals in five appearances. He also helped the Impact win the Amway Canadian Championship, and finished the tournament as the leading goal scorer, with three goals in four matches.

International history

In addition to being named in the senior squad with the USMNT, he also earned caps with U-23, U-20, and U-17 sides, with 11 goals in just 15 matches with the U-17 side. He stood alongside teammate and captain of Columbus Crew Michael Parkhurst when playing for the senior team in the Gold Cup in 2013.
