The United States men's national team is set to take on Canada in a friendly on February 5th in Carson, California to close out the team's annual January training camp.

The first friendly of the training camp, a thrilling 3-2 victory against Iceland on January 31st saw five different players including Ethan Finlay, Jerome Kiesewetter, Tony Tchani, Wil Trapp, and Kellyn Acosta receive their first ever caps for the national team. Along with those five, national team regulars Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones, Brad Evans, Matt Besler, Jozy Altidore, Gyasi Zardes, and Michael Orozco appeared as well as potential regular additions Lee Nguyen, Luis Robles, Steve Birnbaum, Darlington Nagbe, and Jordan Morris

However, due to a combination of injuries, (namely to Evans), a poor defensive display, and a list of other uncapped players on the roster, wholesale changes are expected. Other uncapped players in the squad include New York City FC forward Khiry Shelton, Chicago Fire defensive duo Matt Polster and Brandon Vincent, Tim Parker and Eric Miller of the Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact respectively, and San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham.

Who Should We Expect To See Against Canada?

Expected Formation: 4-3-3

Goalkeeper: Luis Robles- while any number of goalkeepers on the roster including Robles and his MLS counterparts Bingham and Sean Johnson of the Chicago Fire are inexperienced at the international level, but expect Klinsmann to opt for consistency by selecting 2015 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Robles.

Right Back: Eric Miller- the previous match's starter, Brad Evans left the national team with an injury earlier this week and with Kellyn Acosta, who played left back against Iceland the only other natural right back in the squad aside from Miller, expect the uncapped Jacksonville native to the get nod.

Center backs: Tim Parker, Matt Polster- continuing with the theme of experimentation and overhaul in defense for the U.S. this uncapped duo might seem an odd pairing. Polster is a defensive midfielder by trade who has seen time at center back for his domestic club team in the Fire and excelled in the position despite a poor overall season from Chicago. Parker was part of a Vancouver defense that was the league's joint best along with the Seattle Sounders.

Left Back: Brandon Vincent-  Vincent is projected as a possible long term solution for the United States at left back and the only natural left back on the roster, as such expect this to be one of many appearances for the former Stanford captain in the near future.

Central Midfielders: Michael Bradley, Kellyn Acosta, and Darlington Nagbe- Expect Jürgen Klinsmann to go with a mix of industry and creativity in midfield. National team captain Bradley is a stalwart in the deep lying playmaker role, while Acosta may be examined in his natural position in the holding midfield role where he plays for FC Dallas. Finally, Darlington Nagbe provides dribbling ability, legs, and an ability to push forward that allows the United States not to be fully dependent on Bradley to start attacks with deeply hit passes from midfield.

Forwards: Khiry Shelton, Jerome Kiesewetter, and Jordan Morris- Shelton, one of several uncapped youngsters in the squad was a live wire for New York City FC in his first season in MLS, playing in the number ten role as well as a second striker and a wide forward. Expect the Colorado native to utilize his speed in the wide forward role for Klinsmann's side on Friday.  Kiesewetter, who appeared off of the bench in the Iceland match, is likely to assume the central striker role for the Yanks and standing at six feet tall he resembles the man he's replacing, Jozy Altidore in both size and style albeit with a bit more pace and dribbling ability to his game. Finally, current darling of Major League Soccer, Jordan Morris is likely to fill in at the other wide forward role having come off the bench against Iceland.

With the US' fantastic record against the Canadians and a desire to find solutions ahead of March's World Cup qualifier double header against Guatemala, the circumstances should make Friday's match a fascinating one to watch.
