We are about an hour away from kickoff here at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City! It's a beautiful night here in the midwest!

After a week of bad weather and rain in the Kansas City area, the forecast looks good for Saturday night. Let’s all hope the rain stays away for a terrific matchup between the United States and Bolivia at Children’s Mercy Park.

Bolivia looks to have little to no chance of advancing out their group unless a dramatic collapse by Argentina or Chile occurs. Bolivia will need to use any good results they can get in the build up to Copa America as well as the tournament itself to gain momentum going into World Cup Qualifying in the fall.

With the group they have the US could finish anywhere from first to fourth. The young American stars will have to show up in the game against Colombia if they have any hope of winning this group. If they do lose to Colombia, the Costa Rica game will be the most important. A win against Costa Rica would seem crucial no matter what to advance to the knockout stages.

On paper the United States' group looks to be a tad easier than Bolivia’s. As mentioned before they will open up against Colombia at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Following that they travel to Chicago to take on Real Madrid’s superb goalkeeper Keylor Navas and Costa Rica. This game could be the most crucial after a tough match against Colombia to open up play. Most pundits and experts will say the USA’s last game should be the easiest but that’s not necessarily the case. They will take on Paraguay, who reached the 2011 Copa America Final where they lost to Uruguay. The 2015 Copa America was also a great tournament for Paraguay, and they defeated Brazil on penalties in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals. The ultimately lost to Argentina 6-1 after an Angel Di Maria brace and goals by Javier Pastore, Sergio Aguero, Marcos Rojo and Gonzalo Higuain.

Bolivia’s group in the Centenario will be difficult. Both finalists from last year’s tournament will be joining them, in a group comprised of ArgentinaChile and Panama. Bolivia will take on Panama first on June 6th before playing Chile in Foxborough four days later. Waiting for them in their last group stage game will be Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi, as they will play Argentina at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

A bit of injury news coming into the game is that Monterrey defender Edgar Castillo will be replacing Timmy Chandler in the US’s Copa America squad. Chandler has an apparent quad strain that will keep him from participating in the tournament. Although, Castillo will not join the team until after Monterrey plays the second leg of the Liga MX final against Pachuca on Sunday. Another piece of news is that national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann has announced Geoff Cameron has recovered from a hamstring injury and will be available to play against Bolivia and participate in Copa America.

The US has had two warm-up matches in the build up to Copa America. A younger squad with quite a few non Copa America squad players defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 last Sunday in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. A stronger side took on 12th ranked Ecuador on Wednesday in Texas. It was a tight game and the only difference in the game was a late winner by Darlington Nagbe to seal a 1-0 win for the United States. 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund player Christian Pulisic made headlines in that game with a display of wonderful skills late on.

Bolivia has not played a match since a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina and Lionel Messi on March 29th during FIFA World Cup Qualifying. They currently sit 2nd bottom in the qualification standings with 3 points, one win, and 5 defeats. Although they have not played well in recent times they did reach the quarterfinals in last year’s Copa America in Chile.

There are 50 places separating these two teams when it comes to the FIFA World Rankings. The United States is currently 29th in the world and could make a significant jump towards the top with a good campaign in Copa America. Bolivia is 79th in the FIFA rankings, and the South American country has only won Copa America once, in 1963.

This game will be the final warm-up game for both the USA and Bolivia before the start of Copa America Centenario. The US will begin the tournament on opening night (June 3rd) against Colombia in Santa Clara. Bolivia will start off their campaign against Panama three days later in Orlando.
